What to Expect

Pelo Camp is situated in a genuine wetland area within the Okavango Delta, making it an ideal habitat for the elusive sitatunga and red lechwe. Hippos and crocodiles are frequent sightings, with the latter often spotted basking on the channel banks. During the dry season, keep an eye out for lechwe, impala, and elephants on the floodplains. The birdlife is extraordinary, with substantial populations of endangered wattled cranes, as well as slaty egrets, rosy-throated longclaws, African skimmers, and many other species calling this place home.

Highlights

Standard Twin/Double Tents

Shaded by a sublime canopy of trees, traditionally styled Meru tents with en-suite facilities, make up this intimate camp. The canvas tents have a covered front veranda with spectacular views over the Delta, and are completely private, making Wilderness Pelo Camp ideal for a family or group of friends looking for an authentic Okavango Delta safari.

Mokoro Excursions

The emphasis at Wilderness Pelo Camp is on mokoro excursions – a smooth, silent way to seamlessly connect both with the myriad features of the Okavango Delta and the rich heritage of the region’s people. This watery wonderland supports an abundance of water-loving wildlife and birds.

Boating

Venture into the remote channels aboard a boat, where you can keep an eye out for red lechwe and elephants, and with some luck, you might even spot a spotted-necked otter. Discover this enchanting experience at Pelo Camp.

Guided Nature Walks

Stroll along the serene low sandy islands and gain insights into the sustainable way of life of the River Bushman people in this region.

Fishing

Seasonal catch-and-release fishing is available with a modest selection of basic equipment, including spinner rods and a small assortment of lures.
